Camba Bavarian Hell is a proper easy drinking Helles with enough malt character to keep it interesting and enough freshness to make the second can feel like a very reasonable idea.

Soft bread, cereal grain and gentle caramel lead the way, with mild toasted malt and floral hop notes underneath. The palate is smooth and rounded, but never sweet, with a light bitterness keeping everything clean and refreshing. Camba describes it as a full bodied Bavarian Helles with fine malt aroma and mild roasted notes, which is exactly where this beer sits.

This is a traditional Bavarian lager from an independent brewery in Chiemgau, and it delivers exactly what a good Helles should, soft malt, gentle hops, clean fermentation and excellent drinkability.

About The Brewery

Camba Bavaria is based in Seeon in Bavaria and has built a strong reputation for combining traditional German brewing with a slightly more modern craft approach.

The Bavarian Hell is firmly on the traditional side of the range. It is brewed with Pilsner, Munich and caramel malts, Bavarian lager yeast and Tradition and Tettnang hops. That combination gives the beer its soft malt profile, gentle toast and restrained floral bitterness.

It is not trying to reinvent Helles, which is probably a good thing. Sometimes you just want a clean Bavarian lager that knows exactly what job it is there to do.
