About The Brewery And Region

Behemoth Brewing Company was founded in 2013 by brewer Andrew Childs. The business began as a contract brewery, producing beers at different breweries throughout New Zealand while building a loyal following for generous flavours, playful names and distinctive artwork.

Behemoth later established its permanent home at Churly's Brewpub on Dominion Road in Mount Eden, Auckland. The brewery has become particularly well known for expressive pale ales and IPAs, alongside creative stouts, sour ales and speciality releases.

Fresh hop season is one of the most anticipated periods in New Zealand brewing. Hops are harvested around Nelson and Motueka before being transported quickly to breweries, allowing them to be used while their natural oils and aromas remain exceptionally vivid.

Brian He's Not A Hop, He's A Very Naughty Boy celebrates the 2026 harvest with fresh Rhapzody, an emerging New Zealand hop known for its distinctive stone fruit, tropical and citrus character. Its playful name takes inspiration from the classic comedy film Life Of Brian, matching Behemoth's familiar sense of humour with a seriously flavourful beer.
