Varichon & Clerc Blanc de Blancs Brut NV is a cracking example of why you don't always need to spend Champagne money to enjoy a seriously good glass of French bubbles.

Fresh green apple, ripe pear and citrus lead the way, with delicate white flowers and a subtle hint of brioche adding a little extra interest. The palate is bright, lively and beautifully balanced, with fine persistent bubbles, refreshing acidity and a clean mineral finish.

Made using the same traditional bottle fermentation method as Champagne, this has a lovely elegance and softness that gives it considerably more character than your average inexpensive sparkling wine.

About The Winery

Varichon & Clerc is a historic French sparkling wine producer founded in 1901 in Seyssel, near the French Alps. The house has built its reputation on producing elegant, traditional method sparkling wines that combine regional character with excellent value.

Located in the broader Savoie wine region, Varichon & Clerc has a long association with the vineyards of the Alpine foothills, where cooler conditions help produce wines with freshness, natural acidity and delicate aromatics.

Today, the winery is part of the Boisset family of wineries, continuing its long tradition of producing approachable French sparkling wines with fine bubbles and beautifully balanced fruit.

The Privilège Blanc de Blancs Brut is made from a blend of Ugni Blanc, Colombard, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Jacquère. Unlike Champagne, which comes from a specifically defined region, this French sparkling wine draws on different white varieties to produce a fresh, elegant and consistent house style.

It is matured in bottle for approximately 15 months, developing extra texture and complexity while retaining the bright fruit and refreshing character that make it so enjoyable.
