Provenance Geelong Shiraz 2024 is a cracking example of modern Geelong Shiraz. It has plenty of ripe fruit, but the real appeal is in the savoury detail, with cherry plum, liquorice, black olive, allspice and a little leafy spice giving the wine loads of personality.

The palate is medium bodied, firm and juicy, with fine tannins and fresh natural acidity keeping everything beautifully balanced. There is depth here, but it never feels heavy or overworked.

This wine gives you a proper cool climate Victorian Shiraz with real regional character. It has 95 points from Philip Rich at Halliday Wine Companion and 93 points from Campbell Mattinson, and enough structure to age, all without wandering into premium Shiraz pricing.

Aromas of dark fruits, pink peppercorns and violets lead onto the medium-bodied, gently plush and well-balanced palate. About The Winery

Provenance Wines is based in Geelong and focuses on wines that show where they come from rather than trying to cover everything up with oak and winemaking tricks. The name Provenance means place of origin, which sums up the philosophy fairly neatly.

The 2024 Geelong Shiraz comes from the estate’s own vineyard near Bannockburn in the Moorabool Valley. The site was planted in 1997 and is farmed using organic principles, with long term biodynamic inputs and no herbicide use.

It is a polished but still lively style of Shiraz, with fruit, spice and savoury character all pulling in the same direction. Which is usually what you want from good wine, and occasionally from people.

Cellaring Potential

Provenance Geelong Shiraz 2024 is already drinking very well with a little air, but the fresh acidity and fine tannin structure give it plenty of ageing potential. A drinking window of around six to eight years is a comfortable expectation under good storage conditions.

The 2024 Provenance Geelong Shiraz received 95 points from Philip Rich at Halliday Wine Companion and 93 points from Campbell Mattinson in April 2026. Provenance also has a strong track record with Geelong Shiraz, with earlier vintages recognised for their quality and longevity.
