About The Wine 

Rymill Classic Coonawarra Shiraz 2021 is a bold, polished South Australian red with the depth, spice and structure that makes Coonawarra such a reliable region for premium Shiraz. It is full bodied and richly flavoured, with dark berries, black cherry, plum, liquorice, chocolate and peppery spice wrapped in smooth, velvety tannins.

Sourced from Rymill’s Riddoch Run vineyard at the warmer northern end of the Coonawarra strip, the Shiraz blocks were planted between 1975 and 1989, giving the wine lovely concentration and old vine depth. 

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Black cherry, prune, black figs, blackcurrant, bay leaf, liquorice, chocolate and peppercorn spice.

Palate: Full-bodied and generous, with dense dark fruit, mocha, earthy spice, undergrowth and a smooth, lavish mouthfeel.

Finish: Long and velvety, with lingering blackberry, spice, chocolate and fine savoury tannins.

About the Winery / Producer / Region

Rymill Coonawarra is a well established family wine producer with deep roots in the region. The Rymill family are descendants of John Riddoch, a key figure in Coonawarra’s wine history, and have grown grapes on some of the region’s prized soils since the 1970s. 

Coonawarra is one of Australia’s great red wine regions, famous for its terra rossa soils, cool nights and long ripening season. While Cabernet Sauvignon is the region’s best known variety, Coonawarra Shiraz can be beautifully expressive, showing dark fruit, spice, fine tannins and elegant regional structure.
