Giant Steps Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2025 is a beautifully precise Yarra Chardonnay with plenty of fruit, freshness and just enough texture to keep things interesting.

White nectarine and citrus lead the way, with lemon verbena, flint and salted almond adding a more savoury edge. The palate is bright and energetic, with crisp acidity running right through the wine and giving it excellent length. It is polished without feeling overworked, which is usually where good Chardonnay starts getting interesting.

This wine gives you a genuine taste of Giant Steps quality without moving into the price of the single vineyard wines. It is fresh, detailed and beautifully balanced, with a 95 point Halliday Wine Companion rating behind it as well.

The 2025 Yarra Valley Chardonnay brings fruit from vineyards across the region, with 50% sourced from the Upper Yarra ranges. That combination gives the wine a nice balance between concentration and freshness, with the cooler sites helping preserve acidity and the broader valley fruit bringing texture and flavour.

This is the regional Chardonnay in the Giant Steps range, but there is nothing basic about it. It gives you plenty of the precision and detail the winery is known for, without requiring a discussion about vineyard altitude before you pour the first glass.

Cellaring Potential

The 2025 is already drinking beautifully, but its acidity and structure give it enough shape to develop over the next few years. Halliday Wine Companion recommends enjoying it now or over the next three to four years.
