About The Wine

Sentio Mount Gambier Pinot Noir 2024 is a finely detailed cool climate Pinot Noir with purity, tension and plenty of character. Grown on limestone soils near the ocean, it shows a more classical Pinot profile, balancing bright fruit with savoury detail and a subtle saline edge. The 2024 vintage is lighter on its feet, but still expressive and layered, with freshness and concentration carried beautifully through the palate.

The vineyard features 'fractured flint atop ancient limestone', and it has to be said that it has produced a stunner of a pinot noir in '24. Meshes the cherry and red fruit with the herbal, the sappy, the earthy and high spices led by cardamom, with a discreet contribution from whole bunches lending a distinct pepperiness. A fascinating wine, each sip revealing another layer, sending the drinker down another ever so silky tannin-ed track of discovery. Bravo! Jannie Port

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Cranberry, cherry, wild raspberry and gentle spice.

Palate: Bright and energetic, with red berry fruit, cinnamon spice, brambly depth and a fine textural line.

Finish: Fresh, graceful and slightly saline, with a lingering savoury edge.

Serving Suggestions

A lovely match for roast duck, grilled chicken, mushroom dishes, pork loin or charcuterie. Its brightness and freshness also make it very appealing with a light chill.

About the Winery / Producer / Region

Sentio is the project of Chris Catlow, with a focus on site driven wines that capture detail, tension and regional character. Mount Gambier has become an increasingly exciting source for Pinot Noir, with its limestone base, flint and red volcanic soils helping shape wines with both freshness and depth. This release comes from the Coola Road vineyard, a site close to the ocean that brings extra texture and saline definition to the finished wine.

Drinking beautifully now for its fragrance and energy, with enough structure and freshness to reward short to medium term cellaring under good conditions.
