William Downie Gippsland Pinot Noir 2025 is a beautifully expressive Victorian Pinot from one of Australia’s most respected Pinot Noir makers. Deeply coloured yet finely detailed, this release shows the energy, texture and savoury complexity that has made William Downie’s wines so sought after.

The 2025 Gippsland Pinot brings together bright red and dark berry fruit, floral lift, spice and a subtle mineral edge. It is round and textured on the palate, with noticeable tannin and impressive length, a brilliant bottle for Pinot lovers and collectors alike.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Cherry, raspberry, blackcurrant, cardamom, rose petals, violets and subtle spice.

Palate: Textured and rounded, with red and dark berry fruit, rusted iron, fine savoury detail and a gentle briny edge.

Finish: Long and complex, with lingering berry fruit, spice, mineral freshness and structured tannin.

The Wine Front - 94 Points 

Sweeping, squeaky texture, darker fruit spectrum, seamless integration of white mushroom, undergrowth and brambly herbal inflection. Bold perfume, quite a bit of flavour too, fine, grainy tannin landing well. Licks of saline minerality, some salted liquorice characters lending x-factor and a dose of sour cherry through the finish. Quite strict in a way, needing some tuime to unfurl. Serious pinot. - Mike Bennie
