About The Wine 

Mulline Single Vineyard Sutherlands Creek Chardonnay 2025 is a refined, site driven Geelong Chardonnay with impressive texture, freshness and detail. Grown in the Moorabool Valley at Sutherlands Creek, this is a premium Victorian Chardonnay that balances ripe stone fruit and citrus brightness with fine oak, savoury complexity and a mineral edge.

Made from 100% Chardonnay, the wine was naturally fermented with full solids and matured in barrel, including 30% new French oak. The result is layered and polished, with richness kept beautifully in check by cool-climate acidity and the stony character of the vineyard site.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: White peach, nectarine, lemon curd, grapefruit, flinty oak spice and subtle roasted almond.

Palate: Textural and finely balanced, with ripe citrus, stone fruit, savoury lees detail, gentle creaminess and mineral drive.

Finish: Long, fresh and elegant, with lingering lemon, fine oak spice and a clean stony edge.

From a 10000 vines-per-ha close-planted vineyard in the Moorabool Valley. Matured in 30% new French puncheons; 20% mlf. Very bright green gold. A step up in intensity yet with lower alcohol than the '24. The result is a complex and pure-fruited bouquet of white nectarine, jasmine and sea spray. Fills out beautifully on the medium-bodied, energetic and structured palate. A terrific wine that will need another six to 12 months to hit its straps but will continue to improve in the bottle for another five to seven years at least. Philip Rich

The range highlights the region’s diversity, with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and other cool-climate varieties shaped by careful vineyard sourcing and thoughtful winemaking.

The Sutherlands Creek Chardonnay comes from Strathmore Vineyard on Muhlebach Road, planted in 1998 in the Moorabool Valley. The vineyard is planted to Chardonnay clone P58 and sits on grey and brown loams, clay loams and fragmented granite, giving the wine both fruit depth and savoury mineral structure.  Geelong has become one of Victoria’s most exciting regions for Chardonnay, with maritime influence, varied soils and cool climate conditions helping produce wines with citrus drive, texture and elegance.

Cellaring Potential

This premium single vineyard Chardonnay can be enjoyed now for its citrus freshness, stone fruit and fine oak detail, or cellared for around 5 to 8 years to build deeper notes of roasted nuts, brioche, honeyed citrus and savoury complexity.
