Dexter Wines Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay 2024 is a beautifully detailed Victorian Chardonnay from one of the Peninsula’s most respected small producers. Grown on Dexter’s single vineyard in Tuerong, this release shows purity, concentration and the bright natural acidity that makes Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay so appealing.

The 2024 vintage brings freshly cut peach, white flowers, sea spray, nougat, river pebble, Thai basil, fennel and wild mint aromatics. The palate is layered and refreshing, with pithy white stone fruit, lime zest, lemon curd, mineral detail and a tightly coiled finish.

About The Winery

Dexter Wines is the family project of Tod and Debbie Dexter, created from their own single vineyard site on the Mornington Peninsula. The vineyard focuses exclusively on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, allowing the family to concentrate on the two varieties that have become the region’s great strengths.

Tod Dexter brings more than 40 years of winemaking experience to the label, and that experience shows in the balance and precision of the wines. Dexter Chardonnay is known for combining fruit purity, natural acidity, careful oak use and strong vineyard expression, resulting in wines that are refined, textured and built to age.

For the 2024 Chardonnay, fruit was picked in the last week of February from Chardonnay clones P58, I10V5, Bernard 96 and 277. The fruit was whole bunch pressed, then fermented in 500 litre French oak puncheons, with 20% new oak, 30% second use oak and 50% older oak. The wine spent 11 months on lees before bottling, giving it texture, shape and savoury complexity.

Cellaring Potential

Dexter Wines Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay 2024 is drinking beautifully now for its freshness and precision, but it will reward careful cellaring. Enjoy now to 2032 under good storage conditions. With time, expect the citrus and stone fruit to develop into richer notes of almond, toast, lemon curd, honey and savoury mineral complexity.
