Chateau Laroque Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classe 2016 is a beautiful mature Bordeaux red with depth, polish and plenty of Right Bank charm. It has had time in bottle, so the fruit feels more settled, the tannins are starting to soften and the savoury detail is beginning to show.

Made mostly from Merlot, with Cabernet Franc and a small touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2016 vintage shows redcurrant, Morello cherry, wild blueberry, plum, cassis, flowers, spice and mineral notes. It is medium to full bodied, fresh and finely textured, with enough structure to keep developing but plenty of appeal for drinking now.

Aroma: Redcurrant, Morello cherry, wild blueberry, cassis, plum, florals, spice and mineral notes.

Palate: Medium to full bodied with layered red and dark fruit, bright freshness, fine tannins and savoury depth.

Finish: Long and polished with lingering cherry, cassis, spice, mineral detail and classic Bordeaux grip.

Chateau Laroque is one of the historic estates of Saint Emilion, on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. The estate is known for Merlot led wines grown on limestone influenced soils, giving the wines depth, freshness and fine structure.

Saint Emilion is one of Bordeaux’s most famous wine regions, especially for Merlot and Cabernet Franc based reds. These wines are loved for their balance of ripe fruit, savoury complexity and ageing potential.
