Beechworth Chardonnay with peach, pink grapefruit, flinty complexity and a savoury, chalky finish.

A concentrated, cool climate Chardonnay from Beechworth that blends ripe stone fruit with citrus bite, subtle struck-match complexity and a savoury, textured palate. The 2024 shows peach and pink grapefruit up front, layered with gentle cedar spice, vanilla creaminess and a long, flavoursome finish. This vintage has also been rated 94+ points by Gary Walsh (The Wine Front).

About Fighting Gully Road

Fighting Gully Road is a Beechworth benchmark founded by Mark Walpole and established in 1997, with a strong focus on site driven wines from North East Victoria. The winery is based at Mayday Hills in Beechworth, operating from the site’s restored historic workshop buildings, and is known for meticulous vineyard work and small-batch winemaking.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Peach, pink grapefruit, honey florals, cedar spice, subtle struck match

Palate: Juicy fruit core, vanilla creaminess, aniseed, balanced acidity

Texture/Finish: Light chalky grip, savoury oatmeal notes, excellent length

Cellaring Notes

Drinking well now, and will reward 5 to 8 years cellaring for deeper texture and complexity.
