Discover the bold and expressive character of the Brash Higgins Lennon Vineyard Merlot 2021, a standout red wine from McLaren Vale, South Australia. Crafted by winemaker Brad Hickey, this Merlot offers a modern twist on a classic variety, showcasing the unique terroir of the Lennon Vineyard.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: A vibrant bouquet of poached damson plum, lilac, and dried tobacco, complemented by tomato leaf, sage, and garden herbs.
Palate: Medium-bodied with flavors of dark cherries, spiced plum, and a touch of earthiness.
Finish: A fresh and buoyant finish, with a tannic structure that sneaks up softly, providing a savory and satisfying conclusion.
Winemaking Process:
Sourced from 1994-planted Merlot grown on clay soils at Lennon Vineyard, this wine was fermented in a mix of amphora and open-top fermenters. It was aged for 7 months in clay and a further 6 months in barrel, with a 15% addition of Nero d’Avola to enhance acidity, tannin, and add a touch of the exotic.
Minimal Intervention: Crafted using natural and traditional winemaking techniques, ensuring a true expression of the vineyard's character.
Unique Blend: The addition of Nero d’Avola adds complexity and freshness, setting this Merlot apart from others.
Limited Production: With only 200 cases made, this wine offers exclusivity and a rare tasting experience.
