Nocturne SR Chardonnay 2025 is a finely detailed Margaret River Chardonnay with fresh stone fruit, citrus, sea breeze character and subtle savoury complexity. The SR range represents Nocturne’s Sub Regional wines, created to express the personality of distinctive vineyard areas across Margaret River.

This release combines Chardonnay from four highly regarded vineyards, Grace and White, Wilson, Victory Point and Tassell Road. Each site contributes individual character, allowing winemaker Julian Langworthy to build a wine with fruit concentration, freshness, texture and fine structure.

The grapes were hand picked and whole bunch pressed before spontaneous fermentation in puncheons. Lees maturation adds richness and shape through the middle of the palate, while bright acidity and fine phenolics keep the wine focused and refreshing.

Finish: Long and focused, with lingering nectarine, citrus, mineral tension and fine phenolic structure.

Serving Suggestions

Serve lightly chilled with grilled snapper, roast chicken, prawns, lobster, creamy seafood pasta or mushroom risotto. Its bright acidity also makes it a great match for richer dishes with butter, cream or roasted nuts.

Allow the wine a little time in the glass before serving to reveal more of its stone fruit, savoury and mineral character.

About The Winery, Vineyards And Region

Nocturne is the personal wine project of Margaret River winemaker Julian Langworthy. Julian grew up in the region and has spent his career developing a deep understanding of its vineyards and fruit sources. His achievements include being named Winemaker of the Year in the 2019 Halliday Wine Companion and winning the 2016 Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy.

The Nocturne collection is divided into two ranges. The SV wines focus on individual vineyard sites, while the SR wines explore the character of broader vineyard areas through carefully assembled blends. Both ranges place vineyard expression, texture and drinkability at the centre of the winemaking.

The vineyards contributing to this Chardonnay are associated with the Treeton area of Margaret River. Treeton is one of six unofficial wine precincts proposed within the region based on differences in climate and soil. It is known for cool nights, warm days and deep sandy soils that can produce Chardonnay with concentrated fruit, natural acidity and fine mineral structure.

Margaret River has a maritime climate shaped by the Indian and Southern Oceans. Warm, dry summers, cool winters and moderating coastal breezes support a long and even growing season. The region’s ancient gravel, sand and clay based soils offer good drainage while retaining enough moisture to support balanced vine growth.

Modern wine production in Margaret River began in 1967, with the region’s first Chardonnay vines planted in 1976. Chardonnay has since become one of Margaret River’s defining varieties, producing wines recognised for concentrated stone fruit, citrus, natural acidity, barrel derived texture and long ageing potential.

Enjoy now for its vibrant stone fruit, citrus and fresh mineral structure, or cellar for up to five years from vintage. With time, the fruit and oak should become more integrated, developing greater savoury depth and complexity.
