Experience Tuscany with Poggiotondo Chianti Superiore DOCG, a refined red wine crafted from the estate's organically farmed vineyards in the western hills of the Chianti region. This wine showcases the unique terroir, offering a harmonious balance of tradition and modern winemaking. Intense crimson hues. Aromas of iris, ripe red berries, and dark cherries, with subtle hints of spice. The palate exudes warmth and roundness, with smooth, velvety tannins. Notes of delicate flowers add a touch of freshness, while the finish is long and satisfying. This wine boasts sleekness and balanced flavours.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Deep ruby red with purple highlights.
Aroma: Intense bouquet of ripe dark berries, particularly blackberries and blackcurrants, complemented by subtle hints of herbs and spices.
Palate: Medium-bodied with a vibrant acidity, soft tannins, and flavors of juicy black cherries. The wine offers a harmonious balance between aromatic richness and freshness.
Finish: Long and fresh, with a touch of spice.
Food Pairing:
Ideal with traditional Italian dishes such as pasta with tomato-based sauces, grilled meats, and aged cheeses. Its balanced profile also complements Mediterranean cuisine.
Winemaking Details:
Grape Varieties: 92% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo, 3% Colorino.
Climate: Mild and dry, influenced by the proximity to the Mediterranean Sea, resulting in a balanced wine.
Vinification: Grapes are destemmed and crushed, fermented in temperature-controlled cement tanks with indigenous yeasts, and undergo spontaneous malolactic fermentation. The wine ages in large untoasted 54hl barrels for 12 months, followed by several months in the bottle.
