La Trappe Quadrupel is one of the great classic Trappist ales of the Netherlands, deep amber to mahogany in colour, full bodied, and layered with dark fruit, caramelised malt, spice, and gentle warmth. Brewed by Bierbrouwerij De Koningshoeven, it is widely recognised as the original beer to use the name “Quadrupel”, first introduced in 1991.

About the Brewery

La Trappe is brewed by Bierbrouwerij De Koningshoeven at Koningshoeven Abbey in the Netherlands, one of the world’s few authentic Trappist breweries. The brewery’s roots date back to the 19th century, and its beers are closely tied to monastic brewing tradition, with production carried out under Trappist supervision. That heritage, combined with a reputation for bottle conditioned, characterful ales, has made La Trappe one of the most respected Trappist names in the world.

La Trappe Quadrupel is a permanent part of the La Trappe range rather than a seasonal release, and remains the brewery’s heaviest standard ale. It is also regarded as a benchmark example of the quadrupel style.
