Greenock Creek Seven Acre Shiraz 2021 is a serious Barossa Valley Shiraz from one of the region’s most distinctive single vineyard producers. Sourced from the Seven Acre vineyard at Seppeltsfield, this is a rich, concentrated and deeply structured red with classic Greenock Creek power.

The 2021 vintage shows macerated plum, blueberry, summer fruits, baking spice, liquorice and fruitcake, with a ferrous mineral edge and layers of concentrated blue and black fruit. It is bold and full flavoured, but also perfumed and polished, with fine tannins carrying the wine through a long, powerful finish.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Macerated plum, blueberry, blackberry, liquorice, fruitcake, baking spice, violets and ironstone earth.

Palate: Full bodied and concentrated with dense black fruit, blue fruit, spice, dark chocolate, savoury oak and firm polished tannins.

Finish: Long, powerful and structured with lingering plum, blueberry, spice, liquorice and mineral depth.

Shiraz sourced from 1993 plantings at the Greenock Creek estate in Seppeltsfield. Purpley hued and displaying all the requisite estate concentration. This wine, all macerated plum, blueberry and summer fruits, has a ferrous edge to its form along with layers of baking spice, blueberry pie, licorice and fruitcake. Decant for at least two hours before serving. Enioy with a premium steak, slow cooked lamb, roast beef, rich mushroom dishes, chargrilled vegetables, aged cheddar or hearty winter cooking.

About The Winery

Greenock Creek is one of the Barossa Valley’s cult producers, established in 1984 on the western edge of the region. The winery is known for powerful, site driven wines from small vineyard parcels, with a strong focus on Shiraz and the deep character of the Barossa’s old vine landscape.

The Seven Acre vineyard was planted in 1993 and is made up of eighteen long rows. The site is defined by hard red brown clay, bluestone slate and a lower section that moves into sandy alluvial loam. These soils help shape the wine’s dark fruit intensity, firm structure and distinctive mineral character.

Greenock Creek wines are made in small batches with gentle handling, handpicked fruit and traditional basket pressing. Seven Acre Shiraz is matured in French oak, with around 20% new oak, adding polish and structure while letting the vineyard power remain at the centre.

Cellaring Potential

Greenock Creek Seven Acre Shiraz 2021 is already impressive with extended decanting, but it is built for long term cellaring. This wine has the potential to cellar for decades. Drink now to 2041 and beyond under excellent storage conditions.
