Hugues Pavelot Chorey Les Beaune Les Beaumonts 2022 is a beautifully approachable Burgundy with the sort of red fruit, freshness and fine texture that makes Pinot Noir from the Côte de Beaune so appealing.

Red cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry lead the way, with violet, light spice and subtle earthy notes underneath. The palate is medium bodied and smooth, with fine tannins and bright acidity giving the wine plenty of shape without making it feel firm or austere. Neal Martin awarded the 2022 90 to 92 Points for Vinous, calling it polished, sensual and persistent.

This is a great bottle if you enjoy Burgundy with elegance rather than weight. There is enough depth here to keep Pinot Noir lovers interested, but it is also generous and open enough to enjoy without waiting years for it to settle down.

About The Winery

Domaine Jean Marc and Hugues Pavelot is based in Savigny Les Beaune and comes from a long established Burgundy winegrowing family.

Hugues represents the next generation of the estate, continuing its focus on expressive Côte de Beaune wines with clarity and regional character. Les Beaumonts comes from Chorey Les Beaune, a village just north of Beaune that is particularly good at producing supple, fragrant Pinot Noir with plenty of early charm.

This is a good example of why some of Burgundy’s less famous villages are worth paying attention to. You still get the red fruit, finesse and savoury detail, just without quite as much ceremony around the label.

Cellaring Potential

The 2022 is already drinking well, with smooth tannins and plenty of fresh red fruit.

Neal Martin gives it a drinking window of 2024 to 2033, so there is enough structure here for medium term cellaring if you prefer your Burgundy with a little more savoury development.

The 2022 Les Beaumonts received 90 to 92 Points from Neal Martin for Vinous.

For Burgundy drinkers, this offers a very appealing entry into serious Côte de Beaune Pinot Noir without stepping straight into Premier Cru pricing.
