Pennyweight Gold is a beautifully rich sweet white fortified wine from Beechworth, crafted from selected well ripened white grapes and fortified with brandy spirit. Aged for an average of seven years in old oak casks, it has lovely depth, mellow sweetness and smooth, warming complexity.

This is a deliciously versatile fortified wine, perfect served chilled as an aperitif, poured alongside dessert, or mixed long with tonic, ice and lime for a refreshing twist. Expect ripe fruit, gentle oak, brandy lift and a soft, luscious finish.

Serving Suggestions

About The Winery

Pennyweight Winery is a small traditional winery based in Beechworth, Victoria. It is owned and operated by the Morris family, whose winemaking history stretches back generations and is closely tied to both Beechworth and Rutherglen.

The winery was established by Stephen Newton Morris in 1982 and overlooks the historic Pennyweight Flat goldfield, discovered in 1852. That local gold rush history gives the winery its name and connects it strongly to the Beechworth landscape.

Pennyweight works with certified organic and biodynamic dry land vineyards in Beechworth and Rutherglen, producing estate grown table wines, fortified wines and apera styles. Gold reflects the winery’s traditional fortified wine skill, combining ripe white grapes, brandy spirit and long old oak ageing to create a rich, mellow and distinctive Australian sweet fortified wine.
