About The Wine

Cotier Joy Tempranillo 2023 is a bright, savoury and gently rustic Mornington Peninsula red with plenty of personality. Made from Tempranillo, it brings together juicy red cherry, earth, warm spice and a fresh, approachable finish.

This is not a heavy Spanish style red, it has the lift and brightness of cool climate Victoria, with soft tannins and a lively edge that makes it wonderfully easy to enjoy. A great pick for those looking for something a little different from Pinot Noir or Shiraz.

Aroma: Red cherry, raspberry, dried herbs, earth, warm spice and a subtle savoury note.

Palate: Medium bodied and fresh, with juicy red fruit, gentle spice, soft tannins and a lightly earthy, rustic edge.

Cotier Joy Tempranillo is produced by Garagiste Vintners, a small batch Mornington Peninsula producer known for expressive, site focused wines. Garagiste is strongly associated with cool climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but this Tempranillo shows a more playful, savoury side of the region. The 2023 Cotier Joy Tempranillo is listed as a Mornington Peninsula wine with 13% ABV.

The Mornington Peninsula’s maritime climate, cool nights and varied vineyard sites help create wines with freshness, perfume and natural balance. In this setting, Tempranillo takes on a brighter, more energetic feel, showing red fruit, spice and savoury structure rather than heavy oak or weight.
