Montalto Pennon Hill Chardonnay 2025 is a bright, polished and beautifully balanced Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay with classic cool climate freshness. It brings together lemon curd, grapefruit, white peach and nectarine, with subtle oak detail adding notes of brioche, roasted hazelnut and gentle spice.

This is an approachable yet refined Chardonnay from one of the Mornington Peninsula’s most respected producers. It has lovely fruit purity, zesty acidity and enough texture to feel generous without becoming heavy.

Montalto has also been recognised among the Halliday Wine Companion Top 100 Wineries 2025 and 2027, supporting its reputation as one of Mornington Peninsula’s standout producers for cool climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. 

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Lemon curd, grapefruit, white peach, nectarine, white florals, brioche and roasted hazelnut.

Palate: Fresh and medium bodied, with citrus drive, stone fruit richness, fine texture and gentle savoury oak detail.

Finish: Clean, vibrant and balanced, with lingering grapefruit, peach, almond and soft mineral freshness.

About The Winery

Montalto is one of the Mornington Peninsula’s best known producers, with a strong focus on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from vineyards across the region. The winery has built its reputation on wines that show genuine regional character, combining cool climate freshness with texture and polish.

Pennon Hill is the more approachable regional expression in the Montalto range, drawing on fruit from across the peninsula to create a wine with both consistency and character.

The 2025 Chardonnay is made from hand harvested fruit, fermented in French oak and matured for nine months. Only 16% new oak is used, so the oak adds brioche, hazelnut and gentle spice without overwhelming the fruit.

The result is exactly what good Mornington Chardonnay should be: fresh, detailed and textural, without disappearing down a rabbit hole of oak and winemaking jargon.

Cellaring Potential

Montalto Pennon Hill Chardonnay 2025 is already drinking beautifully, but its bright acidity and fine structure should allow it to develop nicely over the next few years.
