Bright, complex, and distinctly Australian – S.C. Pannell “Dead End” Tempranillo 2022 is McLaren Vale red made for food and flair.

Created by award-winning winemaker Stephen Pannell from select Tempranillo blocks near Amery Road and Koomilya, this wine highlights the synergy of McLaren Vale’s warm climate and Spanish varietals  The vines are over 20 years old, producing ripe yet fresh Tempranillo prized for its regional character.

On the nose, expect a vibrant mix of cherry compote, sarsaparilla, cola, potpourri, lilac, marjoram, and earthy tones. The palate delivers juicy red fruit, sweet cherry, raspberry, with a savoury spicy edge balanced by firm, tapas ready tannins and fresh acidity . It's medium-bodied but impressively structured, finishing cool and persistent.

Two parcels, one in McLaren Flat and the other Koomilya, Upper Tintara, two weeks on skins; matured in French oak puncheons. Black cherry, blackberry pastille, cherry cola, black jellybean, all sans confection, chinotto, leather, panforte spicing, scrubby herbs, a hint of violet or the like, the palate dutifully structured with classic tapas-beckoning tannins.
