At McMurtrie Vineyard, located at the intersection of Main Rd and McMurtrie Rd in McLaren Vale, the Brunello clone is used. The grapes are left on skins for 12 days during fermentation before being gently pressed into large format oak barrels. Sangiovese, a versatile grape variety, is known for its refreshing qualities and is particularly well-suited to the McLaren Vale region.

A lovely warm-climate sangiovese, reminiscent of certain expressions from Tuscany's Maremma region. Mid-weighted of feel and effortless of texture, sangiovese's scape of frisky tannins and perky acidity toned by the climate yet not, by any stretch, nullified. There is grip, compression and succulent, sappy length to this thanks to the structural architecture as much as the intensity of fruit: a broad spread of damson plum, dried herb, a whiff of leaf, red cherry and baking spices.
