Coriole Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 is a classic McLaren Vale red with depth, polish and plenty of Cabernet character. It has dark berry fruit, cedar, currant and savoury detail, with enough structure to feel serious but still very enjoyable now.

The 2022 vintage shows cassis, mulberry, blackcurrant, cedar, dark berries and a gentle savoury edge. It is full bodied, bold and balanced, with well managed tannins that give the wine shape without making it feel too heavy.

About The Winery

Coriole is one of McLaren Vale’s much loved family wineries, founded by Hugh and Molly Lloyd in 1967. The first Coriole wine was released in 1969, and the estate is still family owned today.

The winery is based on Chaffeys Road in McLaren Vale, with a long history of producing regional reds that show generosity, balance and character. Coriole is especially well known for Shiraz and Cabernet, as well as its early work with Italian varieties in Australia.

This Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a lovely example of the Coriole style. It has the dark fruit and structure Cabernet drinkers enjoy, but with the warmth and smoothness that makes McLaren Vale reds so appealing.

From estate vines planted in '86; raised in French oak (about 25% new) for 18 months. Though impeccably varietal, this skips any overt leafiness, leaning into cedar, mulberry, cassis, currant and a toasted nori regional note. Lifted cabernet perfume is there, though, along with both power and a certain refinement of delivery, with tannins expertly managed to pair with fruit weight. It’s fine value. - Marcus Ellis

Coriole Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 is drinking well now, especially with a short decant. It also has the structure to cellar over the medium term. Drink now to 2032 under good storage conditions.
