Hellyers Road 12 Year Old American Oak Single Malt Whisky is a testament to Tasmania’s cool-climate craftsmanship and pristine natural environment. Aged patiently for over a decade in American oak casks, this whisky delivers a beautifully layered balance of vanilla, malt sweetness, and oak-driven spice, smooth, complex, and unmistakably Tasmanian.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Vanilla bean, honeycomb, and citrus zest with hints of toasted oak and butterscotch.
Palate: Rich and rounded, showcasing malted barley sweetness, caramel, and light spice, underpinned by creamy oak tones.
Finish: Long and velvety with lingering notes of vanilla, orange peel, and gentle oak warmth.

Serving Suggestions

Enjoy neat or with a few drops of pure water to open up the layers of malt and oak. Also excellent served over a single cube of ice to soften the texture and release subtle citrus notes.

About the Distillery

Founded in 1999 in Burnie, Tasmania, Hellyers Road Distillery stands as one of Australia’s leading single malt producers. Named after the historic Hellyers Road trail blazed by Henry Hellyer in the 1820s, the distillery uses pure Tasmanian rainwater and 100% local malted barley. Its cool maritime climate provides ideal conditions for long, slow maturation, resulting in whiskies celebrated for their purity, smoothness, and refined character.

Cellaring Potential

Perfectly matured at 12 years but will hold its integrity and subtle evolution in bottle for many years when stored upright in a cool, dark place.

Collector’s Note

Hellyers Road whiskies have won Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and Best Australian Single Malt at the World Whisky Awards. The 12YO American Oak is one of their most decorated core releases, smooth, elegant, and quintessentially Tasmanian.
