Unico Zelo Pollen Gewurztraminer 2026 750ml

“Bone dry Gewürztraminer with white peach, golden apple, ginger and fragrant kaffir lime.”

Unico Zelo Pollen Gewürztraminer is not the sweet, heavy style of Gewürztraminer that can make you feel like you have accidentally started dessert before dinner.

This is fresh, aromatic and bone dry, with potpourri, ginger and kaffir lime jumping from the glass, followed by golden apple, white peach and pineapple. A chalky texture gives the palate some shape, while refreshing acidity keeps all those exotic flavours lively rather than rich. That distinctive flavour profile is central to Unico Zelo's Pollen style.

This is a brilliant choice if you like aromatic whites but want something outside the usual Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling routine. It has plenty of personality, but importantly, no sugary finish hiding underneath it.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Potpourri, kaffir lime and ginger with white peach and fragrant florals.

Palate: Dry and textural with golden apple, white peach, pineapple and fresh citrus.

Finish: Fresh and persistent with ginger, citrus, florals and a fine chalky edge.

Serving Suggestions

This wine was practically made for Southeast Asian food.

Try it with Thai curries, Vietnamese salads, aromatic herbs, chilli, ginger and dishes balancing sweet, salty and sour flavours. The dry finish and fragrant character make it particularly good when there is plenty happening on the plate.

About The Winery

Unico Zelo was founded by Brendan and Laura Carter, with a focus on varieties and vineyard sites particularly well suited to Australian conditions.

Pollen comes from Gewürztraminer grown in Polish Hill River in the Clare Valley, a cool, elevated site that Unico Zelo has worked with since 2020. The vineyard sits around 520 metres above sea level, and the variety has become an important part of the producer's exploration of aromatic and Mediterranean influenced wines.

It is Gewürztraminer for people who thought they did not like Gewürztraminer, which is always a useful trick to have up your sleeve.

Cellaring Potential

Best enjoyed young while the florals, ginger, citrus and fresh fruit are at their most vibrant.

This is a wine to open for its aromatics and energy rather than hide at the back of the cellar for a decade.
