Mountadam Five Fifty Chardonnay 2025 is a really well balanced Eden Valley Chardonnay with plenty of ripe stone fruit, but still loads of freshness. White peach and nectarine lead the way, with preserved lemon and subtle citrus notes giving the wine a bright, clean feel.

There is a little richness through the palate, but it never feels heavy. A portion of the wine sees seasoned French oak, which adds texture and a gentle creamy feel rather than obvious oakiness. Fresh acidity keeps everything lively and gives the wine a long, polished finish.

Aroma: White peach, nectarine, preserved lemon, pear and subtle almond notes.

Palate: Medium bodied and smooth with ripe stone fruit, citrus freshness and gentle creamy texture.

Finish: Fresh and persistent with lingering peach, lemon and clean natural acidity.

About The Winery

Mountadam Vineyards is one of the pioneering names of Australian cool climate Chardonnay. The estate was established in 1972 by David Wynn, who recognised the potential of the elevated Eden Valley site to produce wines with freshness, elegance and structure.

The Five Fifty range takes its name from the vineyard's altitude of around 550 metres above sea level. The Chardonnay is sourced entirely from the Mountadam estate, including original Chardonnay plantings dating back to the 1970s. The elevation allows the grapes to ripen slowly, building flavour while retaining plenty of natural acidity.

For the price, this is a great little Eden Valley Chardonnay. It has enough richness for those who like a touch of texture, but still feels fresh, clean and very easy to enjoy.

Cellaring Potential

Mountadam Five Fifty Chardonnay 2025 is drinking beautifully now while the peach and citrus fruit are fresh and vibrant. It should also develop nicely over the next three to five years under good storage conditions.
