Troppo Pinot Gris 2025 is not your standard light, neutral Pinot Gris. There is more texture, more savoury character and considerably more personality going on here.

Fresh pear and stone fruit lead the way, with citrus, subtle florals and gentle spice adding lift. The palate is dry and energetic, with bright acidity balancing a slightly richer, more textural feel through the middle. It is fresh enough to be immediately refreshing, but interesting enough to keep you coming back to see what else is going on.

This is a great choice if you like Pinot Gris but want something with a little more character than the usual clean and simple style. It also makes a very easy step into the world of minimal intervention wines without requiring you to completely recalibrate your tastebuds.

It also works beautifully with antipasti, charcuterie, soft cheeses and Mediterranean vegetable dishes. Serve nicely chilled, but not absolutely freezing, if you want the texture and aromatics to show properly.

Troppo is the Adelaide Hills wine project of Lauren Langfield and Alex Russell, with a focus on expressive wines made from thoughtfully farmed South Australian fruit.

The wines lean towards the minimal intervention end of the spectrum, but drinkability remains firmly at the centre of things. Pinot Gris suits that approach particularly well, offering plenty of freshness while still having enough texture and flavour to make things interesting.

This is natural leaning wine without the requirement to explain it to everyone at the table first, which is generally a very good sign.
