Moss Wood Amy's Cabernet Blend 2025 delivers a very convincing taste of Margaret River Cabernet without requiring you to head straight to the top shelf.

Cabernet Sauvignon makes up 81% of the blend, joined by 8% Merlot, 8% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot. Blackcurrant, blueberry, redcurrant and plum lead the way, with violet, cedar, dark chocolate and subtle spice adding complexity. The palate is medium to full bodied, with generous fruit, fresh acidity and fine tannins keeping everything beautifully balanced.

There is enough structure here to satisfy serious Cabernet drinkers, but Amy's has always been designed to be approachable while young. The 2025 does that particularly well. Gary Walsh describes it as a return to a more classic vintage after the more robust 2024, awarding it 93 Points.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Blackcurrant, blueberry and redcurrant with blackberry, plum, violet, cedar and subtle spice.

Palate: Medium to full bodied with generous cassis, blueberry and plum, balanced by fresh acidity and fine structured tannins.

Finish: Long and composed with lingering dark berries, cedar, chocolate and red liquorice.

Serving Suggestions

An easy match with grilled steak, roast lamb, slow cooked beef and mushroom dishes.

It also works beautifully with mature cheddar and other firm cheeses. There is enough richness for hearty food, but the freshness and fine tannins mean dinner does not need to become a major production.

About The Winery

Moss Wood is one of Margaret River's established Cabernet specialists, with Amy's offering a more immediately approachable expression of the estate's Cabernet style.

The 2025 comes from the Glenmore Vineyard and combines Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. It has the dark fruit and structure you expect from Margaret River, but with a supple character that makes it particularly inviting while young.

It is serious enough for the Cabernet enthusiast, but not so serious that you need to discuss soil profiles before opening it.

Cellaring Potential

Moss Wood recommends enjoying the 2025 now for its vibrant Cabernet fruit or cellaring it for around 8 to 10 years as the berry flavours develop more cedar, chocolate and savoury complexity.

Gary Walsh gives a drinking window of 2026 to 2035.
