Cleanskin Clare Valley Shiraz 2023 is a great value red with plenty of classic Clare Valley character. Blackberry and plum lead the way, with spice, bramble and a little savoury earthiness underneath.

The palate is generous without being too heavy, with ripe dark fruit, a touch of peppery spice and enough tannin to give it some shape. It is the sort of Shiraz that works well when you want something dependable, full flavoured and easy to enjoy without spending a fortune.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Blackberry, dark plum, red berries, bramble and gentle spice.

Palate: Medium to full bodied with ripe dark fruit, savoury spice and firm structured tannins.

Finish: Dry and persistent with lingering plum, blackberry, spice and a slightly earthy edge.

About The Region

Clare Valley is one of South Australia’s great wine regions, and Shiraz is one of the varieties it does especially well. The wines tend to combine ripe dark fruit with spice, freshness and a little more structure than some warmer climate styles.

This 2023 cleanskin shows that regional style nicely, with plenty of dark fruit and savoury character while still staying very approachable. For the price, there is a lot to like here.
