Tasting Notes

Aroma: Deeply perfumed nose of dark cherries, plum, blackberry and violets, layered with graphite, cedar and savoury spice.
Palate: Concentrated and powerful, yet finely balanced, showing dense black fruit, cocoa, and subtle mint with firm, velvety tannins. The Malbec component adds a plush mid-palate richness and dark floral nuance.
Finish: Long, persistent and tightly coiled, promising decades of evolution in bottle.

Food Pairing / Serving Suggestions

Pair with aged beef fillet, roast lamb, venison, or slow-cooked osso buco. Decant for 1–2 hours before serving at 18°C to fully express its depth and aromatics.

About the Winery / Region

Founded in 1893, Wendouree is one of Australia’s most revered and secretive wineries, located in the Clare Valley, South Australia. The estate’s original vineyards, planted in the 1890s, are among the oldest in the region. Under the custodianship of Tony and Lita Brady, Wendouree’s wines remain true to their historic roots, handcrafted, minimal intervention, and available only through strict mailing lists, making each bottle a collector’s treasure.
