A wonderfully complex, yet medium-bodied wine that melds savoury notes with dark fruit and gentle tannins. Lean into a glass of Brokenwood Graveyard Shiraz and you can almost hear the whispers of legends, stories and lore that have infused into this hero of the Hunter Valley. There are the founders including James Halliday, who, along with friends including the lauded winemaking personality Len Evans, made the first vintage of Brokenwood in 1973. There's the influence of winemaker lain Riggs and the 30 vintages of Graveyard Shiraz crafted into the Hunter Valley symbol it is today. A wonderfully complex, yet medium-bodied wine that melds savoury notes with dark fruit and gentle tannins.

Matured in French oak (30% new). Tallawanta is one of the most revered vineyards in the Hunter Valley, but you have to work your way into the wine. Its colour is bright but not deep, the bouquet more than adequate, the flavours soaring as the wine enters the mouth. The fruit cadences are primarily red, and vibrantly fresh.
