Shiraz you know well. Mataro (Mourvèdre) you may not. It hails from the southern Rhône Valley in France and loves sunshine and heat, which is why it grows so well in the Barossa.In the glass: Inky dark red. On the nose: Concentrated black fruits, toasty oak and dark cola notes. On the palate: A massive chocolatey crowd-pleaser with blackcurrant and mulberry intensity, masses of sweet oak all carried by fine dusty tannins and fresh acidity.
