Carefully selected from Norfolk’s Estate vineyards, the fruit was crushed, fermented in stainless steel, and matured in one, two as well as three-year-old French oak barrels for about 12 months. The resultant wine features a vibrant crimson-red hue, with scents of lifted red berries, stone fruits, cherries and mint coming off its rich and complex bouquet. The palate displays a 14% alcohol level, with flavours of spice, forest fruit, plum, chocolate and vanilla oak leading to a lengthy and tannin-filled finish. Norfolk Rise Estate Merlot 2016 can be cellared till 2020 and suggested food pairings for this red include roast veal, wood fired pizza, grilled lamb chops and mushroom ravioli.
